PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Pattern Design

For my EDGE project, I will be researching and building a portfolio in Surface Pattern Design. I have always been interested in pattern design, and I am excited to use this for my edge project so that I can gain experience in this field.  My project will involve research into the field, how to create patterns in Adobe Illustrator and trending patterns in the market today.  I will build a portfolio of 5–10 patterns in a variety of styles and color palates in order to learn new techniques and showcase my abilities to potential employers and clients. These designs could be used for anything from textiles, social media, stationary or any number of other products. I am currently employed at a clothing company that is looking into the possibility of purchasing exclusive pattern designs for textiles within the next few years.  My ultimate goal would be to sell my work to this company, however, I will also look into other companies in the market where I could potentially make a profit from my designs in the future.
